SM7IZJ is my call sign. I've been a licensed radio amateur since 1979.
Was quite active in the '80s. At that time, I was pretty limited when it came to shortwaves.
I was only allowed to run telegraphy. Only at 10 meters and higher frequencies was I allowed to run phone.
On 2 meters FM I was very active. At that time, there was almost always traffic on the local repeater. Unlike today when most things are quiet.
In the '90s when I got married and started a family, they became a break with the radio for 25 years.
In 2015, interest was aroused again. I then sent an email to SSA's office and asked what I should do to reactivate my license. I got the answer that it was still active, so
it was just to go on. Nowadays there is only one certificate class in Sweden, I can now
work all modes and all bands. But the shortwave rig had to wait. The first rig had to be
something for 2 meters. I bought a Yaesu FT-1900. A very good rig that I still run
with. Later I got an HF rig. I bought a used Icom IC 725
ICOM IC 725
My IC-725 in my homemade
box. With a 12v battery and SWR meter.
